... and yet it is a pretty anti-social environment, if you ask me.
At least in the case of whenever I try to discuss something over instant messages, I always get a "Oh I saw that link already" or "Oh that's old" response.
And it ends right there.
Seriously, I would much prefer if you reply with something a little more thought-provoking than that. Shouldn't be too difficult. At least say how you feel about it (you know - excited, indifferent, upset) so we could talk about the damn topic for a little more than .5 seconds. Sure, I might be catching on to it a little later than you, but what the hell, why not discuss it a for a minute or two?
Sheesh.

Maybe they're waiting for you to say something about it first?
It's hard having a conversation through instant messages, texting, & the like. You can't read people's facial expressions & feed off of them. We should all have webcams & just communicate "face-to-face". Haha.
Webcams! Only if the resolution gets to the point of HD. That would be awesome. But then again we'd be looking at the image on the monitor and not looking "eye-to-eye," which would make it a little strange and definitely not the same as in person.
As for me saying something first, I would think just dropping a link and a "hello" was enough of a conversation initiator, but I guess I am as much to blame. Still, there's something to be said about how the internet, and technology in general, gives everyone all these ways to connect with others while at the same time giving us another uh... avenue to drift apart.
